Below is a list of the services that our local pharmacies can now offer:

Common Ailments – Allows free advice & treatment for up to 27 common ailments

Emergency Supply– Enables a pharmacist to supply urgently required repeat medication to patients if they are unable to obtain a prescription before they need to take their next dose. Exclusions apply.

Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) – The morning after pill is available free of charge if supply is deemed appropriate following a consultation with an accredited pharmacist.

SCL2 – Smoking Cessation Level 2 – Supply of Nictotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products for patients who are attending a Stop Smoking Wales or Hospital Smoke Free clinic for behavioural support

SCL3 – Smoking Cessation Level 3 – Supply of NRT products & 1:1 behavioural support (complete service at community pharmacy)

 Just in Case Scheme – Supply of palliative care medication for patients whose medical condition may deteriorate into the terminal phase of illness on receipt of prescription by a GP

 Patients Sharps – Allows patients who use sharps with their medication (e.g. diabetics) to return 1L sharps bins to pharmacies for disposal.

Triage & Treat – Service provided at certain pharmacies for low level injuries e.g. minor burns, minor wounds, foreign bodies

 Palliative Care Drugs – Pharmacy holds stock of specific palliative care drugs for Out of Hours, District Nurses, Acute response Team (ART), etc

Respiratory MUR+ – Allows a trained pharmacist/technician to check if patient is using their inhaler correctly

MURs (Medicine Use Review) – Pharmacist can discuss with/advise patients regarding their medication to ensure they understand what they are taking & possible side-effects.

 DMRs (Discharge Medicine Review) – Pharmacist is able to review & ensure patient has correct medication following a hospital stay
